Welcome to my bonsai intensive calendar for 2025. I currently operate 2 locations in Los Angeles (Arcadia) and San Diego (Lemon Grove area). Cost is $100 per session, not including lunch.

In these intensives I follow these simple principles in the following order:
1) First all work is driven by the health of a tree. As a living art, if a tree dies it ceases to be bonsai. Horticulture and health is the basis for all work.
2) If a tree is healthy it is able to respond to different bonsai based techniques. We can leverage techniques to develop a tree, create branching, and generate predictable responses.
3) With great horticulture and technique, we can pursue art and realize different aesthetic visions or philosophical concepts of bonsai.

San Diego Study Group – Session 4 (g2)

| $100The fourth session for San Diego G2 will be run on 7/7. Session cost is $100, not including lunch but food is typically ordered. Group is capped at 7 slots. Please RSVP with me to confirm your slot.
July is the last month to do major deciduous work. This is so any new produced growth not only has time to lignify but time to photosynthesize and produce energy for next year’s bud set. Work such as defoliation can be done with good success at this time. Previous work on conifers still apply, however decandling is late past mid July.
