Welcome to my bonsai intensive calendar for 2025. I currently operate 2 locations in Los Angeles (Arcadia) and San Diego (Lemon Grove area). Cost is $100 per session, not including lunch.

In these intensives I follow these simple principles in the following order:
1) First all work is driven by the health of a tree. As a living art, if a tree dies it ceases to be bonsai. Horticulture and health is the basis for all work.
2) If a tree is healthy it is able to respond to different bonsai based techniques. We can leverage techniques to develop a tree, create branching, and generate predictable responses.
3) With great horticulture and technique, we can pursue art and realize different aesthetic visions or philosophical concepts of bonsai.

San Diego Intensive Session 2 (g3)

| $100The second study group session in San Diego will be run on February 6th! It runs from 9 AM – 3:30 PM and cost is $100. Lunch can be ordered or participants can bring their own lunch. All San Diego groups are currently FULL, please contact me directly for waitlist.
This time of year is extremely adaptable for Southern California. Because of our mild climate, we’re able to do repotting, branch work, wiring, and grafting for both coniferous and deciduous trees. In the case of deciduous cut backs, we’ll make precise decisions off bud health, positioning, and desired branch placement. Repot technique will be discussed as applicable. I can demo and assist with scion grafting, however I cannot fully scion graft a participants tree since it is time intensive.
